Macdonald Hotel Hill Valley 2025

GHOFAT 25 MATCH REPORT AND RESULTS
GHOFAT 25 found us all at a new venue for this years fun and games. Hill Valley Golf and Country Club in Whichurch is a long drive for most of us, but we all seem to be able to manage what is not too difficult a journey, given modern motor vehicles, with sat nav, heated seats and reversing cameras, to help us find an out of the way golf course.
It seems to be proving more difficult each year to get a 100% perfect golf away trip that pleases everyone, to get an acceptable venue, a reasonable drive for all, the food, the golf course, the weather, the hotel staff, all pulling in the same direction, and all at a cost that meets the approval of all visitors, is something of a feat!
Generally I think that this year ( in spite of nameless members trying to change the organised arrangements at odd times!) we managed to achieve somewhere near a 60% success rating. I do believe we all had some good moments, and no one died!! Got to be a plus!
It is a certain measure of success that GHOFAT is still meeting up annually with old and new friends, which after all was the basic fundamental intention when we dreamed up this mad idea 26 years ago.
We managed to sand bag two guests this year to swell our numbers. Tony Slipper's brother, Brian, settled in well and gave as much banter as he was receiving, a bit like his younger brother. Neville introduced an old friend Nigel Richins to our circle, a perfect gentleman, as you would expect as a friend of Neville and an accomplished golfer, a total pleasure to spend time with and both were welcomed by all.
After a spell of rain and a few showers on Monday, we all settled in to some reasonable golf, and we saw a few decent cards presented on return to the club house.

So ends this years G H O F A T annual pilgrimage, we can all now relax and settle in to life, as we all wish for a safe and healthy conclusion to 2025.
If there is sufficient interest, we will look at G H O F AT 2026 early in January. If you think that we should continue to put ourselves through this annual event, and you have any suggestions regarding a suitable venue, then please let me know and we can move forward if there is a positive reaction.
Finally, thank you all for turning up at Hill Valley, I would welcome your comments and views on this years G H O F A T and wish you all a successful rest of 2025.
